In addition, typically once every few months I go down the Steam's lists for "upcoming" games in genres that interest me, looking at the very bottom of the "sort by relevancy" list- because a lot of games that don't don't get any/minimal store page activity end up there. there's a number of YouTube channels that focus on indie games that do roundups of whatever games get released/announced- typically on Steam, and typycally these are trailer compilations, but they help keep me in the loop. this forum has some excellent threads, and some excellent people always o the lookout for cool stuff Also has a demo, and it's really solid.ĮDIT: in terms of discoverabilty, it's a combination of things Top-down pixel art Resi, but with 19th century New England cosmic horror instead of zombies. it's really good in the whole "backtrack across spooky house solving puzzles" thing.Īlso a very unique take on inventory management, and since the whole thing is kinda science gone wrong, there's an in-game explanation for the magic item boxes. It's a bit rough around the edges, and got some clipping bugs, but, uhhh.

I was up all night playing the demo/prologue version of a Chinese-made Resident Evil clone made in UE4 The other recent one was an awesome detective game, sorta like Telltale The Wolf Among Us called Blacksad: Under the Skin. I think the last couple of truly great games I found using that method was an amazing Dark Souls 2D Metriodvania RPG called Death's Gambit: Afterlife.

Whenever I see a PC game bundle I'll look at the trailers/reviews for all the games in the bundle, I've found some really great games doing that. Just listening to some of the stuff that gets recommended by the couple of gaming podcast I watch and giving it a shot. The Steam hidden gems Resetera thread has helped me before. In terms of discoverability for these indie types of games, I guess it's kind of a combination of things. I'm highly interested in this studios next game though. Game started at a 9/10 for me, by the end we were a 6/10. Enemies / combat similarly doesn't evolve enough after getting into the main hall. The puzzles start to get way too stupid, not only some of the solutions but also just the amount of puzzles that they present to you once you get into the main hall. I think the first 1.5 hours are amazing, the game unravels pretty quickly for me after its great start even if the music is consistently pretty great though.

Funny you made this thread, I finished the game last night.
